Dr Trevor Male has over 30 years’ experience of working on academic publications and postgraduate taught and research degrees. Consequently, he is extremely well qualified to provide proofreading services for authors, postgraduate students and researchers. His expertise is in the field of education, particularly leadership and management, and is based on:

• Having worked full-time in four universities since 1993 and part-time in two other UK universities;
• Successful supervision of over 100 masters dissertations and having been principal supervisor for 13 doctoral candidates in the UK, all of whom have successfully graduated;
• His extensive experience as an examiner for doctorates with 17 external and 6 internal examinations since 2011, both in the UK and internationally;
• The publication of authored books, journal articles and conference papers thoughout his career, evidence of which can be seen in his published curriculum vitae on this website;
• Having been a reviewer for academic books and journals for many publishers;
• Having held senior academic positions throughout his employment including faculty, departmental and centre quality assurance roles. 

He remains in part-time employment at the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education where he continues to be principal supervisor for nine doctoral candidates and many masters students.

Why don't you just use Artificial Intelligence?

Some of the subtleties of proof reading remain outside the capabilities of AI systems, sometimes due to its inability to contextualise information which poses challenges. A human proof reader, like me, brings essential qualities to proof reading such as critical thinking, judgement and creativity  - attributes that remain beyond AI’s capabilities. When supporting students, human subtleties such as recognising the relevance of cultural idioms and other cues can play a crucial role in producing top quality writing.  A human proof reader is a plus!
